Numbers + Time

The German time system is similar to the English one. However, there is no equivalent for the English a.m. and p.m. Instead, the Germans add the word "morgens" [in the morning] or the word "abends" [in the evening] to make clear whether a.m. or p.m. is meant. Example:

Zehn Uhr fŸnfzehn morgens (10:15 a.m.)
Elf Uhr dreissig abends (11:30 p.m.)

In official documents, flight schedules, train time tables etc. a 24 hour cycle is used.
